Dr. Monica Santamaria holds a PhD in Civil Engineering from University of Minho, Portugal, focused on risk and resilience management of transportation networks exposed to flooding and degradation processes. Her main research interests encompass performance predictive modelling for infrastructure asset management, structural reliability, risk assessment, and infrastructure resilience. She is an invited Assistant Researcher at the University of Minho and member of the Institute for Sustainability and Innovation in Structural Engineering (ISISE). She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles and presented at multiple international conferences. She is a reviewer for leading journals and a member of international association groups including IABSE TG 5.8 and fib COM8 where she is the technical secretariat. Monica has been actively involved in European research projects, collaborating nationally and internationally with public and private industry partners and several academic institutions. Currently, she is working for the European project MULTICLIMACT, where she is focused on designing resilience interventions that align with the historical significance and structural uniqueness of cultural heritage assets. She is also a lecturer at the International Master in Risk Assessment and Management of Civil Infrastructures (NORISK).
