Our Research & Development Projects

RADIANCE
The RADIANCE project aims to develop an integrated framework combining real-time visual monitoring from crane-mounted sensors with planning and operational data.
WISE
The identification of problems in transportation infrastructure is inherently associated with significant uncertainty. Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar (InSAR) has demonstrated strong potential for enhancing the monitoring and management of such infrastructure.
MED-IREN
The Med-IREN project aims to provide actionable demonstration on how to climate proof the Mediterranean critical infrastructures, across critical sectors, by introducing NBS both in terms of improving climate risk management and sustaining their business continuity to extreme climate change.
Built4People Partnership
This project aims to reduce construction and renovation time on-site by at least 40%, decrease errors, improve resource efficiency, and reduce costs. Additionally, it aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enhance on-site energy efficiency.
Alliance4XR
The main objective of the Alliance4XR project is set on co-creating and testing a well-tailored teaching and training methodology and material for empowering HEIs and VET to successfully address the challenge of XR digital skills mismatch focusing with a focus in engineering.
MULTICLIMACT
Especially in recent decades the frequency of extreme events such as floods, earthquakes and severe heat waves has increased and affected European communities. There is an urgent need to plan, design and retrofit the built environment to adapt to current and future risks.
LIAISON
The objective of LIAISON project is develop a methodology, support tools and close to market technological solutions to transform EU Transport Infrastructure into a more sustainable and low carbon economic activity.
SARIL
In summary, SARIL aims to achieve the following three innovations: Developing a holistic modelling concept of the European transportation network by connecting three scenarios at different geographical scales. Establishing a “green resilience” management including safety and security aspects for logistics.
SAGOA-CVC
InfraROB
The project aims at reducing workers’ exposure to live traffic and construction machines, increase the availability of the transport network, automate, modularize and thus reduce the cost of repeatable tasks and safety upgrades, as well as to increase the safety of road users.
GIIP
Maximizar a eficiência e a rentabilidade no uso das infraestruturas; Aumentar os níveis de produtividade e reduzir os custos unitários;
GOA.BI
The project aims at introducing a new philosophy in the context of transportation infrastructures maintenance. New data acquisition equipment will be developed and a mobile platform will be made available for the inspectors.
Ferrovia 4.0
SIRMA
Most of the transportation of people and goods in Atlantic Area is made through rail and road. The performance of this infrastructure is directly affected by extreme natural events and by the strong corrosion processes that result from proximity to the Atlantic Ocean.
SAFEWAY
SAFEWAY’s main aim is to design, validate and implement holistic methods, strategies, tools and technical interventions to significantly increase the resilience of inland transport infrastructure by reducing risk vulnerability and strengthening network systems to extreme events.
COST ACTION TU1406
The main objective is to develop a guideline for the establishment of QC plans in roadway bridges, by integrating the most recent knowledge on performance assessment procedures with the adoption of specific goals.
SUSTIMS
SUSTIMS’ main aim was to create a technological solution to support an integrated road infrastructure management system and to comply with quality levels for pavements, bridges, retaining walls and slopes and telematics. To that, optimized maintenance and conservation system was intended.
