Short Bio

Maria José Morais holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s in Construction and Rehabilitation Engineering.
With experience as an urban property evaluator and in public works supervision, she has contributed to national and European research projects on inspection, performance assessment, maintenance, and digitalization, spanning heritage buildings, railway tracks, and bridges.
Currently a PhD student at the University of Minho, her research focuses on inspection, performance assessment, and digital approaches to support informed decision-making in transport infrastructure management. She also collaborates with international universities on topics related to infrastructure inspection and management.
Beyond research, she actively contributes to the training and mentoring of master’s students, organization of national and international scientific events, and team-building activities within the cluster. She is a member of the Organizing Committee of ESREL 2026 (European Safety and Reliability Conference), where she contributes to several tasks.
