Hélder Sousa

Short Bio

Hélder S. Sousa made his PhD (2013, UMinho) in methodologies for safety assessment of existing timber structures by probabilistic assessment and non-destructive tests. He is an Assistant Researcher in University of Minho, Portugal, and his fields of work include reliability and resilience of existing structures and risk analysis and management of infrastructure. He is a lecturer at the international masters SAHC, BIM A+ and NORISK. Member of IABSE where he leads TG5.8 (Resilience of existing structures) and secretariat of the Portuguese Association of Structural Engineering. He won the IABSE Early Career prize in 2024.
