Dang Ngoc Son

Short Bio

Dr Ngoc-Son Dang was awarded his PhD in February 2021 at Chung-Ang University, South Korea. His research expertise lies in the digitalisation and digital twinning of civil infrastructure, with a particular focus on bridges, through data-driven design approaches. Over the course of his career, he has produced significant research outcomes, particularly in the development of bridge management and maintenance systems (BMS), artificial intelligence–based structural health monitoring systems (SHM), digital twin models (DTM), and information delivery frameworks for a wide range of bridge types, including prefabricated bridges, prestressed concrete (PSC) bridges, cable-stayed bridges, and suspension bridges. In addition, Dr Dang is recognised as an expert in generative design and holographic computing, with substantial experience in the application of advanced eXtended Reality (XR) technologies. He is a lecturer at the international master’s BIM A+ and NORISK, a member of IABSE TG 5.6. He has also received academic and industry distinctions, including the Best Paper Award at KIBIM 2016 and a Special Recognition Award Winner at YII 2018.
