Short Bio

Shashank R is a civil engineer and PhD candidate at the University of Minho, specializing in Structural Engineering and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). He holds a Master’s degree in Structural Engineering from SRM Institute of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Visvesvaraya Technological University.

His research focuses on multi-hazard risk assessment of cultural heritage structures, integrating GIS, remote sensing, Digital Twin technologies, and artificial intelligence to support risk-informed decision-making. His previous work includes seismic analysis of underground tunnels and water balance modeling for hydropower systems.

Prior to his doctoral studies, he served as an Assistant Professor, teaching structural and core civil engineering subjects and supervising applied research projects. His research interests include structural vulnerability assessment, spatial risk modeling, infrastructure resilience, and the protection of built heritage.
